Porta Palazza - the Italian Shipshewana

Next stop in Torino...the HUGE market called Porta Palazzo
Food...

and more. Like: clothing, kitchen utensils, phone covers...
Tim said, "It's like our junk drawer.."
TRUE.

It was a vegetarian's dream...

 and nightmare...

More meat and pasta...

Nuts...hazelnuts are BIG here (think Nutella!)                         Sun dried tomatoes.

Zuccini blossoms...     fabric, clothes

Kitchen stuff

Tim shopping and shopping....in 90 degree weather

Every time though, this is where I find him.

Eating in Italy is not what you think!

Interesting things to see and eat of course in Torino and Italy!

First you have breakfast fare in the hotel....

Gelatine, fruit in a ball and panna cotta with a fruit topping...

Check it out. How cool. A hook under the edge of the table for your purse!

Dinner at Il Gufo Bianco (the white owl) ..I had stuffed zucchini blossoms and homemade ravioli.

The dessert cart was AMAZING...they had to get a track to roll it outside over the threshold.
Tim had TWO desserts - tiramisu and a chocolate dessert.

Berries for dessert - fragolina di bosco - tiny strawberries of the forest.

And currants...called ribes

Blueberries...called mirtilli...all with meringue. YUM.

Out and about this weekend, stopped at McDonald's for something quick.
Got this - Insalata Cereali, basically Cereal Salad. I think it was Farro.
Tasted like cardboard.

Yesterday, on our way to Sacra di San Michele, we stopped at a pizza place.
Here was ONE page of the menu.

First course: Zeppoli con meat and acciuge (sardines, Tim's favorite!)
Then the pizzas - mine had artichoke hearts, ham, mushroom and olives.
Tim's? Yep, acciuge.

Next: on to Porta Palazzo...the farmer's market.

Lots of stuff to see in Torino!

Week One Again....

We took a walk near the Mole Antoinella since we are basically right down the street.
No dog this time.

They had artists do a riff on the classic Mole shape and they were displayed all along the street.
If you look closely you can see what they are made out of. Cool.

And the original...

Various images from our walk...

Nearby piazza...

Churches and more churches...

Cute little cow at a gelato place...

and back to the hotel...
