Colin goes up the hill...

Since Colin was visiting Torino,
we had to take the train up to the Superga.

Then it was the climb to the top! In 90 degree weather...

Sampling the Toretto water!

All along the hill, there were the Stations of the Cross...

 Wait...which one is the soldier?

How many years since your last confession??

A white corvette decorated with paper flowers pulled up...

and out came a bride and groom!

Interesting statue at the Superga

Taking a walk downtown.

During cocktails on the piazza, a bridal couple drove up
and got out.

Some random sights...

I love cool looking knockers.... (so does Tim!)

A picture of a long-haired dachsund in a restaurant..

LUKE...

The Mole Antoniella...

A promotion for a make-up studio. In case you run out of clothes...

Done with today's walk!

Ciao for now!

Living in a hotel...

So while we wait for a "permanent" residence, it's the NH hotel for us - for TWO WEEKS.

The view from the room...paving paradise, putting up a parking lot.

Other views...

Not too bad working out here...

Our nightly ritual...get out the Google Translate and try to play along with one of their game shows.

Orsetti Gommi
Good food, internet that WORKS...what's not to love about hotel life?

Our trip up the mountain to Sacra di San Michele (pronounced Mi-KEL)

We want to explore the Piedmont region as we did past Fall, but what have we not seen yet?
Sacra di San Michele is about 40 minutes away in the mountains so we decided to give it a shot.
Hopefully it would be a bit cooler up there!

Got to a small town on Lake Avigliana, very pretty.
Time for pizza.

We knew driving up the mountain would be...interesting, but wow.

It was quite a way up there but finally the road ends, you park and hike the rest of the way.

Michael the Archangel is mentioned five times in Holy Scripture, in particular, in the book of Daniel, he portrayed as the supreme ruler of the heavenly army in defending persecuted Jews, whilst in the book of Revelation, Michael is prince of the angels faithful to God; he fights and defeats  the dragon (Satan) and the rebel angels.

It looked worse than it actually was, but it was probably a half hour trek to the top.
We wore our tennis shoes but yes, some Italian women we saw had 3 inch heels.

I'm just a wimp I guess.

 Which way?

 ALMOST there!
Made it to the top!

Once we got to the top and bought our tickets to get in we somehow became part of a tour.
Cool, right?
Umm....not when the VERY verbose guy only speaks Italian...

Half an hour later.... we got to see the interoir.

MORE to come...
